The Children's
Trust Fund (CTF) is a State of Nevada program dedicated to
the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
It was
established in 1985 by the State Legislature and is
administered by the Department of Health and Human Services,
Grants Management Unit. The CTF is a special account that
receives fees from Nevada
birth and death certificates. In addition, yearly
applications are written for funds from the federal Child
Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act Community-Based Child
Abuse Prevention.
Every two years
the CTF announces that it will accept grant proposals for
primary and secondary prevention programs for child abuse
and neglect. The Grants Management Advisory Committee (GMAC)
reviews the applications and makes awards. The GMAC focuses
on funding programs that provide parenting education,
self-protection curriculum for children, crisis intervention
and respite care, home visitation, and public awareness.
