October 09, 2017Las Vegas, NV - The Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides unbiased, free Medicare assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their families statewide. Nevada SHIP is available to review and compare health and drug plans to help beneficiaries decide and enroll in a plan that will go into effect January 1, 2018. Certified SHIP Benefits Counselors are available for over the phone and in person assistance at various locations throughout the state.
Medicare Open Enrollment for 2018 Medicare
health and drug plans begins on October 15, 2017, and ends December 7, 2017. Plan
costs and covered benefits can change from year to year. People with Medicare
should look at their coverage choices and decide the options that best fits
their health needs. They can visit Medicare.gov (http://www.medicare.gov ), call 1-800-MEDICARE, or contact Nevada State Health Insurance Assistance
Program (SHIP) at 1-800-307-4444
for a local appointment or location nearest to them. Those people with Medicare
who have reviewed their new plan information and do not wish to change their
current coverage do not need to re-enroll to keep their current coverage.
SHIP is a national federally funded program. The
program was originally established to address confusion caused by the increase
in choices offered by Medicare. Nevada SHIP is comprised of dedicated volunteers
and partners committed to receiving Medicare training and updates to help
