Nevada Snap Program Granted Waiver For Pyhramid & Sutcliffe Recipients Affected By Recent Weather Emergencies

Carson City, NV - January 30, 2017

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) applied for, and was granted, two emergency waivers to assist the Pyramid Lake/ Sutcliffe community in recovering from the recent weather related emergencies in the area by the USDA Food and Nutrition Services.

The first extends the deadline for families in the Pyramid Lake/Sutcliffe area who experienced flooding and/or structural damage to contact DWSS to request additional SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits to replace any food lost or damaged from 10 to 30 days. That deadline is now February 10, 2017 and the number to call is (775)-684-7200.

The second is a mass replacement of 50% of the SNAP benefits for January for all SNAP recipients in the 89510 zip code which DWSS will be restoring today. These benefits will be available to families tomorrow morning, Saturday, January 21, 2017.
