Todd Butterworth has served
as the Office of Disability Services (ODS) Bureau Chief
since 2003, advancing to that position following 11
years within the Department of Health and Human Services
administrating a variety of disability service and
system programs, including Nevada Assistive Technology
Project, Governor’s Council on Developmental
Disabilities, Relay Nevada, State Independent Living
Service Program, Personal Assistance Services, and
Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
As Bureau Chief, Todd
oversees these programs in addition to coordinating
Nevada’s statewide effort to comply with the U.S.
Supreme Court’s Olmstead decision.
Recognized in 2001 for his
service to CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada—a charity which
provides free medical equipment and prescriptions to
low-income Nevadans—he received the annual Bill Kahl
Humanitarian Award after chairing the organization’s
most successful fundraiser ever and after helping in the
development of a new facility to house CARE Chest’s
expanding operations.
On a personal note, for 12
years Todd was the full-time caregiver for his older
brother, who suffered from chronic-progressive Multiple
Sclerosis and required full-time care. Besides being a
strong advocate for his brother in encounters with
insurance companies and various social service agencies,
Todd designed and built two accessible homes to
accommodate his brother’s changing needs.
Todd earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in Accounting from Arizona State
University and an MBA from the University of Nevada,
Reno.
