PPC to Receive First Reports on What is Driving Up Nevada’s Health Care Costs

For the first time, the Patient Protection Commission (PPC) will receive an overview of what is driving health care costs in the state with reports from Nevada Medicaid and Public Employees’ Benefits Program (PEBP). The detailed reports break down spending by age, gender, and costs according to utilization, services and where those services are provided.

“This is one of many steps in the process of better understanding cost drivers in Nevada as we work to slow health care cost growth and improve health care access for all Nevadans,” said Dr. Malinda Southard, PPC Executive Director.

Each report differs in reporting methods, however, two trends are visible in each report including increased costs in Northern Nevada and increased spending across the state for pharmacy.
