Carson City 5K to support Foster Kids planned for April

Event will raise funds for Northern Nevada youth to attend summer camp

Carson City, NV April 01, 2024

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services, invites the community to participate in the second annual Walk Us Home 5K for Foster Homes on April 27 in Carson City.

The 5-kilometer run/walk will raise funds to send Northern Nevada kids in foster care to Camp Rennervation, a summer camp operated by actor and Northern Nevada resident Jeremy Renner's charitable foundation.

Prizes will be awarded to top finishers across multiple categories.

In addition to the run that starts at Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City, CASA of Carson City will host a resource fair with information on services. The event also includes children’s games and live music.

“April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. We wanted to create an event that will help bring awareness while supporting summer camp programs for Northern Nevada kids in foster care,” said Shelby Riley, LSW, Nevada’s Rural Foster Care Recruiter, DCFS.
