Food Assistance

Office of Food Security

Governor Brian Sandoval issued an Executive Order on February 12, 2014 establishing the Governor's Council on Food Security within the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Food Security. The Council was created to implement the goals of Food Security in Nevada: Nevada's Plan for Action and effectively improve the quality of life and health of Nevadans by increasing food security throughout the State.

Food Security One-Stop Shops
“One-stop shops” provide individuals and families with immediate food assistance and also work with them to address the root causes of hunger in their households.
SNAP (Food Stamps)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (formerly Food Stamps) helps low-income people and families buy the food they need for good health.

WIC (Women, Infants & Children)

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides supplemental nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health services and social services to participants at no charge. It is this combination of education, supplemental foods, and referrals to health care providers which allows WIC to make a difference. The WIC Program staff works with health and social services professionals to ensure the best health care possible.

Food Bank of Northern Nevada

Reno-Sparks Children ages 1 to 18 can eat a free evening meal at 26 elementary schools and community centers. Let no child go to bed hungry.

Three Square
Your contributions of food, funds and time go directly to support the many hunger relief programs offered by Three Square Food Bank. These programs benefit over 1,300 Partner Sites in Southern Nevada including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, senior citizens and more. Our Program Partners receive food from Three Square and distribute it to Southern Nevadans in need through their pantry and on-site meal programs.
