Census2020 job fair in Reno to be hosted by Division of Welfare and Supportive Services

Carson City January 28, 2020

The Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services and 2020 Census will host a job fair to hire for 2020 Census jobs in Northern Nevada. The fair is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Job Center in the Reno Town Mall at 4001 S. Virginia Street.

The job fair will highlight short-term positions ranging from $18 to $20 an hour with Census 2020. Available positions include Census Taker/Enumerator; Recruiting Assistant; and Fields Services Supervisor.

“Jobseekers should come dressed to impress,” said Cassandra McNeil of the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services. “Recruiting assistants are available to answer questions and assist with the application process.”

“Temporary employment through the Census is a great way to update your recent employment history, learn more about career potential with the Census Bureau, and serve your community” McNeil added.

Income from temporary employment with the Census will not impact eligibility for some public assistance benefits such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and some special Medicaid groups. A change in income may potentially affect eligibility for Nevada Check-Up, Energy Assistance and some Medicaid groups.
