Be COVID-prepared for Back to School

Guidance available for schools and families

Carson City August 10, 2022

As Nevada students head back to the classroom, information on COVID-19 resources for testing, treatment and vaccination will be made available to schools and families.

Throughout the pandemic response, guidance and information has changed and the State has developed a convenient guide for families and schools to help keep students, staff and visitors healthy in Nevada schools.

“This information is intended to remind all families that resources are available to keep everyone healthy as kids go back to school,” said State Epidemiologist Melissa Peek-Bullock. “We know there has been a lot of different information throughout the pandemic, but in Nevada we have home tests available in community locations, free treatment options for those who qualify and vaccine is now authorized for those as young as 6 months. We want our kids, families and all Nevadans to stay healthy as we start the school year.”

Information in English and Spanish will be available for schools to have in their front office to help families, and also as a convenient document families can take home as a reference.

COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccination continue to be available throughout Nevada:
• Learn about the vaccines, and where and how to get your COVID-19 vaccine appointment at NVCOVIDFighter.org or call the vaccine hotline at 800-401-0946.
• If you have symptoms or know that you have been exposed to COVID-19, get tested to prevent disease spread. Learn more about testing clinics, or free at-home tests available for pickup: https://NVHealthResponse.nv.gov/find-covid-19-testing-in-nevada/
• COVID-19 treatment appointments can be made through Nevada’s hotline at 800-401-0946. The hotline can help determine if you are eligible for oral antivirals or monoclonal antibody treatments after infection or for pre-exposure medication to increase immune response if you were to be infected in the future. The prescreening can also be done online at NevadaCOVIDTreatment.com.
