Governor Lombardo announces Patient Protection Commission Executive Director and Executive Order

Carson City, NV April 12, 2024

Today, Governor Joe Lombardo announced the appointment of Joseph Filippi as Executive Director of the Patient Protection Commission (PPC).

“I am proud that Mr. Filippi has accepted the position to lead our Patient Protection Commission,” said Governor Lombardo. “His understanding of State government, leadership and support of the Department of Health and Human Services will be an asset as he steps into this new role.”

Filippi most recently served in the Director’s Office of the Department of Health and Human Services and during the COVID-19 pandemic he served as the Executive Assistant for the Division of Public and Behavioral Health where he provided strategic oversight and support to several boards and commissions tasked with protecting and improving the health and safety of Nevadans.

Previously he has worked as the Workforce Program Manager for Nevada Rural Hospital Partners, where he was responsible for implementing the Nevada Nurse Apprentice Program statewide.

In addition to announcing the appointment of the Executive Director, earlier today Governor Lombardo signed an Executive Order outlining the focus of the Commission in order to support health care workforce across Nevada.

“I am thankful to the Governor for prioritizing the need to address the health care workforce shortages in our State,” said Filippi. “I am honored for the opportunity to utilize my background in public service to help the PPC fulfill their important mission to improve health care quality and access for all Nevada residents.”

The Governor appoints the Commission’s Executive Director and 12 voting members.
