Las Vegas, NV June 09, 2025
The Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is implementing additional verification requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Effective immediately, customers must provide proof of shelter and utility expenses.
To streamline application processing, customers are urged to bring current utility bills, lease agreement, mortgage statement or rental receipts when applying for benefits at any DWSS office. Documentation for applications processed over the phone can be emailed directly or uploaded in the Access Nevada portal.
Housing expenses directly impact the amount of assistance a household is eligible to receive. Verifying these costs helps maintain program integrity and may increase benefit amount. Individuals experiencing food insecurity are encouraged to apply for SNAP benefits online, in person, or by calling (775) 684-4000 in Northern Nevada or (702) 486-1646 in Southern Nevada.
