Nevada Medicaid Streamlines Provider Qualifications

Reno, NV March 18, 2025

Changes at Nevada Medicaid will make it easier for health care providers to enroll all while ensuring that doctors and health care providers have the education, licenses, work history and other requirements necessary to provide the highest quality of care in the state. Nevada Medicaid is implementing a new Centralized Credentialing process to speed up, consolidate and accurately verify the information health care providers submit to legally administer medical care.

“Improving Nevadan’s access to qualified medical providers is a top priority,” Nevada Medicaid Administrator Stacie Weeks said. “Removing barriers is part of that. This new process will make it easier for doctors and health care providers to enroll with Medicaid and serve Nevadans.”

Prior to Centralized Credentialing, health care providers who wanted to serve Medicaid members through a health plan in Clark or Washoe Counties had to credential with each health plan. That process was duplicative and there was room for inconsistent decisions. Providers will still need to go to each health plan to initiate credentialing and contracting, but this process will streamline the credentialing step through one vendor.

Removing barriers is more important than ever as Nevada Medicaid is engaged in a multi-million-dollar initiative to attract more health care providers in key underserved areas such as behavioral health. For more information about centralized credentialing, please visit this web page. Medicaid covers more than 790,000 Nevadans (approximately 1 in 3 Nevadans). Medicaid’s network is so large that its innovations are often felt across the state’s healthcare industry.
